From body painting and hairstyles to royal regalia and haute couture, "The Cultured Body" will offer insights into the way clothing and body adornments communicate information about African life, art, and history. Presenters include scholars and artists from the U.S., Europe, and Africa. The conference will also focus on the influence of African clothing and body arts on Western arts and fashion.
